EASYJOBHUNT CALIFORNIA PRIVACY RIGHTS NOTICE
1. Introduction and Scope
This California Privacy Rights Notice (“Notice”) supplements the EasyJobHunt Privacy Policy and applies solely to California residents who use or interact with the EasyJobHunt website, mobile applications, and related services (collectively, the “Platform”). EasyJobHunt LLC (“EasyJobHunt,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) provides this Notice in compliance with the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act of 2020 (collectively, “CCPA/CPRA”) and other applicable California privacy laws.
This Notice explains the rights that California residents have regarding their personal information under California law and provides specific information required by the CCPA/CPRA. The provisions outlined in this Notice are effective as of the date indicated at the conclusion of this document and apply to personal information we collect both online and offline. We recognize that California law grants its residents specific privacy rights beyond those available to residents of other states, and we are committed to facilitating the exercise of these rights in a transparent, verifiable manner.
This Notice does not cover personal information that is exempt from CCPA/CPRA requirements, such as personal information governed by certain other laws including the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), or the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), or personal information collected, processed, sold, or disclosed pursuant to the California Financial Information Privacy Act.
Furthermore, this Notice does not apply to personal information we collect about job applicants, employees, or contractors in our role as an employer, which is covered by separate policies provided to those individuals. By accessing or using our Platform, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this California Privacy Rights Notice. We encourage you to review this Notice carefully to understand your rights and how to exercise them under California law.
2. Categories of Personal Information Collected
During the past twelve (12) months, EasyJobHunt has collected various categories of personal information about California residents who use our Platform. As used in this Notice, “personal information” means information that identifies, relates to, describes, is reasonably capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with a particular consumer or household.
We have collected the following specific categories of personal information, as defined in the CCPA/CPRA: identifiers such as real name, alias, postal address, unique personal identifier, online identifier, Internet Protocol (IP) address, email address, account name, Social Security number, driver’s license number, passport number, or other similar identifiers; personal information categories described in California Civil Code Section 1798.80(e), such as name, address, telephone number, employment history, education, financial information, medical information, and health insurance information; characteristics of protected classifications under California or federal law, such as age, race, color, ancestry, national origin, citizenship, religion or creed, marital status, medical condition, physical or mental disability, sex (including gender, gender identity, gender expression, pregnancy or childbirth and related medical conditions), sexual orientation, and veteran or military status, which we collect on a strictly voluntary basis and only for specific purposes such as equal opportunity monitoring or compliance with legal obligations; commercial information, including records of products or services purchased, obtained, or considered, or other purchasing or consuming histories or tendencies; biometric information, but only in limited circumstances such as if you choose to use biometric authentication methods to access your account; internet or other electronic network activity information, including browsing history, search history, and information regarding your interaction with our Platform, applications, or advertisements; geolocation data, such as physical location or movements, typically at the city or zip code level unless more precise location data is necessary for specific functionality; audio, electronic, visual, thermal, olfactory, or similar information, such as photographs if you choose to upload them to your profile or recordings of customer service calls (with appropriate notice); professional or employment-related information, including current and past job history, skills, qualifications, professional certifications and licenses, references, and resume information; education information, including degrees earned, schools attended, academic achievements, and student records; inferences drawn from any of the information identified above to create a profile about you reflecting your preferences, characteristics, psychological trends, predispositions, behavior, attitudes, intelligence, abilities, and aptitudes; and sensitive personal information, as defined in the CCPA/CPRA, which may include precise geolocation data, racial or ethnic origin, religious or philosophical beliefs, union membership, contents of mail, email and text messages unless we are the intended recipient, genetic data, biometric information processed for identification purposes, health information, and sex life or sexual orientation information.
We collect this personal information directly from you when you provide it to us, such as when you create an account, complete your profile, upload a resume, submit job applications, communicate with others on the Platform, or contact our customer support.
We also collect information automatically when you use the Platform, through cookies and similar technologies, and from third-party sources, including social media platforms (if you choose to connect your account), public databases, verification services, and partners with whom we have data-sharing agreements. The specific personal information we collect depends on how you interact with our Platform and which features you use.
3. Business or Commercial Purposes for Collection
EasyJobHunt collects, uses, and discloses personal information of California residents for a variety of business and commercial purposes as permitted under the CCPA/CPRA. These purposes are essential to our provision of services and the functionality of our Platform.
The business purposes for which we use the personal information we collect include: providing you with the EasyJobHunt services, features, and functionality that you request or that are reasonably anticipated within the context of our ongoing business relationship, such as creating and maintaining your account, enabling you to create profiles, submit job applications, search for jobs, communicate with potential employers, and utilize our recruitment tools and resources; processing your transactions, including subscription payments, premium service fees, or other purchases made through the Platform, and maintaining accurate billing records; maintaining the security and integrity of our Platform, including detecting, preventing, and investigating security incidents, fraudulent activity, or inappropriate or illegal content or behaviors on our Platform; debugging to identify and repair errors in our systems; performing services on behalf of the business, including maintaining or servicing accounts, providing customer service, processing transactions, verifying information, and providing advertising or marketing services; undertaking internal research for technological development and demonstration, such as developing new features, functionality, and services; undertaking activities to verify, enhance, or maintain the quality and safety of our Platform and services; processing job applications you submit through our Platform to employers and facilitating the recruitment process; and complying with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes, or enforceable governmental requests, as well as our Terms of Service and other policies.
In addition to these business purposes, we may use personal information for the following commercial purposes: providing personalized services and experiences, such as customizing job recommendations based on your search history, qualifications, and preferences; facilitating communications between job seekers and potential employers; delivering relevant content and recommendations that may be of interest to you based on your preferences, activities on our Platform, and interactions with our services; advancing our commercial or economic interests, such as analyzing usage trends to improve user experience and Platform performance; inducing users to post job opportunities, submit applications, or create accounts; enabling advertising and marketing services, including contextual, behavioral, and interest-based advertising related to our services or the services of our advertising partners; and developing audience insights by analyzing usage patterns and trends across our Platform.
For sensitive personal information, as defined under the CCPA/CPRA, we only use and disclose such information for business purposes that are necessary to provide the services or goods you have requested, to ensure security and integrity of our Platform, to protect against malicious, fraudulent, or illegal activity, for short-term, transient use where the sensitive personal information is not disclosed to a third party, or for other purposes authorized under the CCPA/CPRA. Before collecting, using, or disclosing sensitive personal information for any purpose that is not enumerated in Section 7027(m) of the CCPA regulations, we will provide notice and the opportunity to limit such uses and disclosures as required by law.
4. Disclosure and Sharing of Personal Information
EasyJobHunt discloses personal information of California residents to various categories of third parties for business purposes. During the past twelve (12) months, we have disclosed the following categories of personal information for business purposes to the following categories of recipients.
We have disclosed identifiers, California Customer Records personal information, protected classification characteristics, commercial information, internet activity, geolocation data, sensory data, professional or employment information, education information, and inferences to service providers and contractors who perform services on our behalf. These service providers include cloud hosting providers, payment processors, customer support services, email delivery services, marketing and analytics providers, security and fraud prevention services, and information technology maintenance providers. These service providers access and use personal information solely to perform services specified in our contracts with them and are legally obligated to maintain its confidentiality and security.
We have disclosed identifiers, California Customer Records personal information, professional or employment information, and education information to employers and recruiters when you submit job applications through our Platform or when you make your profile visible to potential employers. The specific information shared depends on what you include in your profile and application materials. We have disclosed identifiers, California Customer Records personal information, and internet activity to analytics and advertising partners to help us understand how users interact with our Platform, optimize our services, and deliver relevant advertising.
These partners may use cookies and similar technologies to collect information about your interactions with our Platform and other websites. We have disclosed personal information to legal and regulatory authorities, such as law enforcement or government agencies, when required by law or legal process, to protect our rights, privacy, safety, or property, or to protect you or other individuals from harm. When you choose to connect your EasyJobHunt account with third-party platforms (such as LinkedIn or Google), we may disclose certain personal information to these platforms to facilitate the connection, subject to your consent and the privacy policies of those platforms.
We may also disclose personal information to professional advisors, such as lawyers, auditors, accountants, and insurers, where necessary in the course of the professional services they provide to us. In the context of a corporate transaction, such as a merger, acquisition, consolidation, or asset sale, we may disclose personal information to the other parties involved in the transaction as part of due diligence or upon completion of the transaction, subject to standard confidentiality arrangements.
Under the CCPA/CPRA, certain disclosures of personal information may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” even if no money is exchanged. The CCPA/CPRA defines “sale” broadly to include disclosing or making available personal information to a third party for monetary or other valuable consideration. “Sharing” is defined as disclosing or making available personal information to a third party for cross-context behavioral advertising. During the past twelve (12) months, EasyJobHunt has not sold personal information of California residents as most would commonly understand the term “sold” (i.e., exchanged for money).
However, we have shared certain categories of personal information in ways that may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” under the CCPA/CPRA’s broad definitions. Specifically, we have shared identifiers and internet activity information with advertising and analytics partners who assist us in delivering relevant advertisements to users and understanding how users interact with our Platform. This sharing helps us provide a more personalized experience, but may be considered “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising under the CCPA/CPRA. California residents have the right to opt out of such sharing, as described in Section 7 of this Notice.
5. Retention of Personal Information
EasyJobHunt maintains specific data retention policies designed to retain personal information of California residents only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, protect our legal interests, and enforce our agreements. The length of time we retain specific personal information varies depending on the purpose of processing, the category of information, and our legal obligations.
For active user accounts, we retain personal information for the duration of your relationship with EasyJobHunt and for a reasonable period thereafter based on legitimate operational needs, legal requirements, and industry standards. This retention period enables us to provide our services, respond to inquiries about past activities, and comply with legal obligations such as tax, employment, and business record-keeping requirements. If you are a job seeker, your application data submitted to potential employers through our Platform may be retained in accordance with applicable employment and record-keeping laws, which typically require retention for periods ranging from one to four years following the conclusion of the hiring process.
Employers who receive your application materials through our Platform determine their own retention periods in accordance with their legal obligations and internal policies, and you should consult their privacy policies for more information about their specific retention practices. Profile information remains in our systems while your account is active. If you close your account, your personal information will be deleted or de-identified within 30 days, except where we have a legitimate business purpose for retention or are required by law to maintain certain information for longer periods.
Technical data, including log files and usage statistics, is typically retained for shorter periods, generally between 90 days and 18 months, after which it may be aggregated and anonymized for analytical purposes or deleted if no longer needed. If your account becomes inactive (no logins or other activity) for an extended period, typically 24 months, we may flag it for potential archiving or deletion, subject to notification procedures where required by applicable law. Before proceeding with deletion of inactive accounts, we will typically attempt to contact you using the email address associated with your account.
Certain limited information may be retained even after account deletion if required by law or necessary for legitimate business purposes, such as information needed to comply with legal retention requirements, aggregated, anonymized data that no longer identifies you, information necessary to protect against fraud or unauthorized access, or information needed to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
We regularly review and update our retention policies to ensure they remain compliant with evolving California privacy laws, including the CCPA/CPRA. When personal information is no longer necessary for the purposes for which it was collected or otherwise required to be retained, we employ secure deletion methods appropriate to the type of information and storage medium involved, ensuring that deleted data cannot be readily recovered or reconstructed.
6. Rights of California Residents
California residents have specific rights regarding their personal information under the CCPA/CPRA. These rights are designed to give California consumers greater visibility and control over how businesses collect, use, share, and sell their personal information. As a California resident, you have the following rights with respect to your personal information.
You have the right to know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, and sell or share about you. This includes the right to request that we disclose to you: the categories of personal information we have collected about you; the categories of sources from which the personal information is collected; the business or commercial purpose for collecting, selling, or sharing your personal information; the categories of third parties with whom we share your personal information; and the specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you.
The right to know extends to personal information collected during the 12 months preceding your request. You have the right to request that we delete personal information that we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions permitted under the CCPA/CPRA.
We may deny your deletion request if retaining the information is necessary to: complete the transaction for which the personal information was collected, provide a good or service requested by you, or reasonably anticipated within the context of our ongoing business relationship with you; detect security incidents, protect against malicious, deceptive, fraudulent, or illegal activity, or prosecute those responsible for such activities; debug products to identify and repair errors that impair existing intended functionality; exercise free speech, ensure the right of another consumer to exercise their free speech rights, or exercise another right provided for by law; comply with the California Electronic Communications Privacy Act; engage in public or peer-reviewed scientific, historical, or statistical research in the public interest that adheres to all other applicable ethics and privacy laws, when the information’s deletion may likely render impossible or seriously impair the research’s achievement, if you previously provided informed consent; enable solely internal uses that are reasonably aligned with your expectations based on your relationship with us; comply with a legal obligation; or otherwise use your personal information, internally, in a lawful manner that is compatible with the context in which you provided the information. You have the right to correct inaccurate personal information that we maintain about you.
Upon receiving a verifiable request to correct inaccurate personal information, we will make commercially reasonable efforts to correct the inaccurate personal information as directed, taking into account the nature of the personal information and the purposes of the processing of the personal information. We may request documentation from you to determine if the information is inaccurate, and if we deny your request to correct, we will explain the reason for the denial.
California law gives you the right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA. As discussed in Section 4 of this Notice, while we do not sell personal information for monetary consideration, we do share certain information with advertising partners in ways that may be considered “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising under the CCPA/CPRA. You have the right to direct us not to share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising purposes. The CCPA/CPRA provides California residents with the right to limit the use and disclosure of their sensitive personal information to uses that are necessary to perform the services or provide the goods reasonably expected by an average consumer.
EasyJobHunt only collects and processes sensitive personal information for purposes permitted under the CCPA/CPRA without requiring a right to limit, such as to perform services reasonably expected by the average consumer or to prevent fraud. If in the future we use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that would trigger the right to limit, we will provide you with the ability to limit such uses or disclosures. California law prohibits discrimination against individuals for exercising their privacy rights.
EasyJobHunt will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA/CPRA rights by: denying goods or services to you; charging different prices or rates for goods or services, including through the use of discounts or other benefits or imposing penalties; providing a different level or quality of goods or services to you; or suggesting that you will receive a different price or rate for goods or services or a different level or quality of goods or services. However, we may offer financial incentives, including payments to consumers as compensation, for the collection, sale, or deletion of personal information, provided these incentives are reasonably related to the value of your data and you have provided prior opt-in consent that can be revoked at any time.
7. Exercising Your California Privacy Rights
EasyJobHunt has established a comprehensive process for California residents to exercise their privacy rights under the CCPA/CPRA. We are committed to making the exercise of these rights as straightforward and user-friendly as possible while ensuring appropriate verification to protect the security and privacy of your personal information.
To exercise your rights to know, delete, or correct your personal information, you may submit a verifiable consumer request through any of the following methods: completing our California Privacy Rights Request Form available at www.easyjobhunt.com/california-privacy-rights; emailing us at california-privacy@easyjobhunt.com with the subject line “California Privacy Rights Request”; calling our dedicated toll-free number for California privacy requests at [1(800) 000 0000]; or sending a written request to: EasyJobHunt, Attn: Privacy Team – California Rights, 100 North Howard Street., Suite R Spokane, WA 99201, United States.
To opt out of the sharing of your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising purposes, you may use the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link available in the footer of our website, which will place an opt-out cookie on your device. You may also use browser privacy settings or extensions designed to limit tracking and data sharing across websites. If you have opted out on one browser or device, we will not automatically apply your choice to other browsers or devices you use, so you will need to exercise your opt-out choice on each browser or device you use.
We also honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as a valid request to opt out of the sharing of your personal information. Only you, or someone legally authorized to act on your behalf, may make a verifiable consumer request related to your personal information. You may make a verifiable consumer request for access or data portability no more than twice within a 12-month period. To submit a request as an authorized agent on behalf of a California resident, you must provide written authorization signed by the consumer, verification of your own identity, and verification of the identity of the consumer on whose behalf you are submitting the request. Alternatively, you may submit proof that you have power of attorney or legal guardianship over the consumer. To verify your identity when you submit a request, we will ask you to provide certain information that matches the information we have on file for you.
The specific information requested will depend on the nature of your request and the sensitivity of the information involved. This may include confirming your name, email address, phone number, and other account information. In some cases, we may require additional documentation to verify your identity, such as a copy of your government-issued ID or a signed declaration under penalty of perjury confirming your identity. We will only use personal information provided in a verifiable consumer request to verify the requestor’s identity or authority to make the request.
We cannot respond to your request or provide you with personal information if we cannot verify your identity or authority to make the request and confirm the personal information relates to you. We endeavor to respond to all verifiable requests within 45 calendar days of receipt. If we require more time (up to an additional 45 days), we will inform you of the reason and extension period in writing. We will deliver our written response to the email address or postal address you specify in your request. The response will cover the 12-month period preceding our receipt of the request. If applicable, our response will explain the reasons we cannot comply with a request.
For data portability requests, we will provide your personal information in a readily useable format that allows you to transmit the information to another entity without hindrance. We do not charge a fee to process or respond to your verifiable consumer request unless it is excessive, repetitive, or manifestly unfounded. If we determine that the request warrants a fee, we will tell you why we made that decision and provide you with a cost estimate before completing your request.
8. Privacy Rights of Minors
The EasyJobHunt Platform is designed for individuals who are at least 16 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 16 years of age. California residents under the age of 16 have additional protections under the CCPA/CPRA with respect to their personal information. Specifically, the CCPA/CPRA prohibits businesses from selling or sharing the personal information of consumers under the age of 16 without explicit consent. For consumers under 13 years of age, a parent or guardian must affirmatively authorize the sale or sharing of the child’s personal information.
For consumers between 13 and 16 years of age, the consumer themselves must affirmatively authorize the sale or sharing of their personal information. As noted above, EasyJobHunt does not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 16 years of age, so we do not sell or share such information. However, we have implemented processes to obtain appropriate consent in the unlikely event that we do collect information from users under 16 years of age. California’s “Eraser Law” (California Business and Professions Code Section 22581) also gives California residents under 18 years of age the right to request and obtain removal of content or information they have posted on the EasyJobHunt Platform.
If you are a California resident under 18 years of age and you have posted content or information on our Platform that you wish to remove, please contact us at california-privacy@easyjobhunt.com with the subject line “Minor Content Removal Request.” Please note that our fulfillment of this request does not guarantee complete or comprehensive removal of the content or information, particularly if it has been reposted by others or is otherwise outside our control. If you believe we have unknowingly collected personal information from a child under 16 years of age, please contact us immediately at privacy@easyjobhunt.com so we can take appropriate steps to investigate and, if necessary, delete such information. Parents or guardians who believe that a child under 16 years of age has provided personal information to EasyJobHunt may contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of that information.
9. Notice at Collection of Personal Information
When we collect personal information from California residents, we provide notice at or before the point of collection, explaining the categories of personal information to be collected and the purposes for which the categories of personal information will be used. This Notice at Collection is provided through various means, including through our Privacy Policy, this California Privacy Rights Notice, just-in-time notices or links to privacy information at the point of data collection, and other contextual notices within our Platform.
When we collect personal information from third parties or when we derive personal information rather than collecting it directly from you, we may not provide a separate Notice at Collection. Instead, we process this information in accordance with our Privacy Policy and this California Privacy Rights Notice. If we decide to use or disclose personal information for a purpose materially different from those specified in our Notice at Collection, we will provide you with a new notice and obtain explicit consent for the new purpose where required by the CCPA/CPRA.
The categories of personal information we collect, the sources from which we collect it, and the purposes for collection are detailed in Sections 2 and 3 of this Notice. We may use and disclose the personal information we collect for the business and commercial purposes described in Section 3, and we may disclose it to the categories of third parties described in Section 4. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that would trigger the right to limit under the CCPA/CPRA. The length of time we retain personal information depends on the purpose for collection and is described in Section 5.
10. Shine the Light Law
In addition to the rights provided by the CCPA/CPRA, California’s “Shine the Light” law (California Civil Code Section 1798.83) permits California residents who have an established business relationship with us to request certain information regarding our disclosure of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes during the preceding calendar year.
To make such a request, please send an email to california-privacy@easyjobhunt.com with the subject line “Shine the Light Request” or write to us at: EasyJobHunt , Attn: Privacy Team – Shine the Light, 100 North Howard Street., Suite R Spokane, WA 99201, United States.
Please note that we are only required to respond to one request per customer each year, and we are not required to respond to requests made by means other than through the provided email address or mail address.
The Shine the Light law does not cover all sharing arrangements, such as information shared with third parties for their own business purposes rather than for direct marketing. As a matter of practice, EasyJobHunt does not share personal information with third parties for their direct marketing purposes without your consent.
11. Do Not Track Signals
California law requires us to disclose how we respond to web browser Do Not Track (DNT) signals. DNT is a preference that users can set in their web browsers to inform websites that they do not want certain information about their webpage visits collected over time and across websites.
However, there is currently no universal standard for how DNT signals should be interpreted, and we do not currently respond to DNT signals. Instead, we provide the various opt-out mechanisms described in this Notice and our Privacy Policy to give you greater control over how your personal information is collected and used.
Some browsers include “Do Not Track” (DNT) features that can send a signal to websites you visit indicating you do not wish to be tracked. Because there is not yet a common understanding of how to interpret the DNT signal, EasyJobHunt does not currently respond to DNT signals.
However, you can use the range of other tools we provide to control data collection and use, including the ability to opt out of receiving targeted advertising from us as described in this Notice.
12. Changes to This California Privacy Rights Notice
EasyJobHunt reserves the right to update or modify this California Privacy Rights Notice at any time to reflect changes in our practices, the features of our Platform, or legal requirements, including amendments to the CCPA/CPRA or its implementing regulations. When we make material changes to this Notice, we will provide you with notice as required by law, which may include posting the updated Notice on our website with an updated effective date, sending you an email notification, or providing notice through the Platform.
The date at the bottom of this Notice indicates when it was last updated. We encourage you to periodically review this Notice to stay informed about our privacy practices regarding the personal information of California residents. Your continued use of our Platform following the posting of changes constitutes your acceptance of such changes.
If you do not agree with the changes to this California Privacy Rights Notice, you should discontinue your use of the Platform. Material changes to this Notice will generally be communicated at least thirty (30) days before the changes take effect, unless immediate implementation is required for legal compliance reasons or to address an urgent security concern.
13. Additional California-Specific Disclosures
California Civil Code Section 1798.83 permits California residents who have provided personal information to a business with which the individual has established a business relationship for personal, family, or household purposes (“California Customers”) to request certain information regarding its disclosure of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. If you are a California resident and have questions about our compliance with this law or wish to make a request, please contact us as specified in the “Contact Information” section of this Notice.
In your request, please attest to the fact that you are a California resident and provide a current California address for your response. Please be aware that not all information sharing is covered by the “Shine the Light” requirements, and we may not be required to respond to requests made by means other than through the designated email address.
Under California Civil Code Section 1789.3, California users of online services are entitled to know that they may file grievances and complaints with the California Department of Consumer Affairs, 400 R Street, Suite 1080, Sacramento, CA 95814; or by phone at 916-445-1254 or 800-952-5210; or by email to dca@dca.ca.gov. The California Consumer Privacy Act provides specific protections for California residents who are job applicants, employees, owners, directors, officers, or contractors of a company.
However, because EasyJobHunt primarily processes personal information in its role as a platform connecting job seekers with employers rather than as an employer itself, these employment-related provisions of the CCPA/CPRA generally do not apply to personal information processed through our Platform. If you are applying for a position directly with EasyJobHunt, please refer to our separate Employee Privacy Notice, which addresses the collection and use of employment-related personal information.
